The Mummers Go Wilde
The Marysburgh Mummers are proud to present The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s timeless and razor-sharp comedy of manners. Directed by James Fraser, this lively production brings all the wit, charm, and satire of Wilde’s most beloved play to the stage.
Set in late Victorian England, The Importance of Being Earnest follows two young gentlemen as they bend the truth to add excitement to their lives. What begins as innocent deception quickly becomes a tangled web of mistaken identities, secret engagements, and sharp-tongued social critique. It is all delivered with Wilde’s signature brilliance.
This production promises laughter, elegance, and a delightfully absurd look at the importance of being, well, earnest.

David Baker is thrilled to be working with such a fantastic and talented group of artists on this classic play. He is coming off a successful season with Theatre Roulant, and before that, a production of the one man show MONSTER by Daniel MacIvor with his own theatre company, No Name Theatre. David is a graduate of the University of Windsor's BFA - Acting program.

Kodie Trahan-Guay has been performing on stage since childhood. She most recently appeared as Linda in Hope For The Future at the Belleville Theatre Guild. Kodie fulfilled a lifelong dream of learning sword fighting while playing Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and her performance in Marion Bridge earned her a nomination for Best Actress from the Eastern Ontario Drama League.
When she's not on the stage, Kodie lives like a hobbit, reading, writing and enjoying breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses and tea (with the occasional adventure outside).
For over twenty-seven years, Pat has proudly called himself a Marysburgh Mummer, charming audiences with a variety of roles. With other groups he’s taken on the flamboyant Frankenfurter in Rocky Horror, the intense Mark Rothko in Red, and the heartfelt Norman in On Golden Pond. Now, he's thrilled to step into the iconic shoes of Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest. Along the way, Pat's passion for theatre has earned him two Best Actor awards from the Eastern Ontario Drama League. With his warm smile and infectious enthusiasm, he cherishes the friendships and stories that make the magic of theatre come alive.
Wendy joined the Belleville Theatre Guild in 2014, with roles including Maggie (Jake’s Women), Belinda (Noises Off), and Cassie (Rumors). She received the Mae Carmichael Award for her portrayal of Allison (The Discombobulating Greeting).
Most recently, with Théâtre Roulant, Wendy delighted audiences as Alice Woodstock in No Traveller Returns, and various characters in Shakes-Beer Rides Again.
Wendy is a frequent traveller to Greece - the only place that feeds her soul as much as the theatre.
Fast becoming a local theatre mainstay, Michael's enthusiasm for the stage is matched only by his overestimation of his own abilities. You may have seen him recently in Théâtre Roulant's Shakes-Beer Rides Again, or Belleville Theatre Guild's Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death, or The Rock. His role of Reverend Chasuble suits him perfectly, as his grandmother always prayed he would join the church. He is much looking forward to helping bring Oscar Wilde's classic play to life.
We are looking for directors and show proposals for the Mummers 2025/2026 Season! Interested?
